Hailing from Kingston Jamaica, George "Fully" Fullwood has the well-earned recognition as being one of "The Greats" in the music industry. Bass legend and founder of the crucial 1970s Jamaican band, the Soul Syndicate, Fully Fullwood has shaped the sound of reggae music across the decades.
As one of the most popular and well-known bass players in the world he has provided the rhythmic essence for every major reggae artist, including the all-time greats Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Joe Higgs, Dennis Brown, and Michael Rose.

George Fullwood's bass sound has provided the essential rhythm to these artists' powerful words, and was the anchor of the final lineup of reggae superstar Peter Tosh's famous band, Word, Sound and Power. He has released four solo albums, ‘For All Time’; ‘Fully Loaded’; ‘Crazy Town’ and 'Breathe Deep' in collaboration with Frances Fullwood as co-writer.

Fully Fullwood was a member of Peter Tosh's band until Tosh's untimely death.
Back in 1983, I had been very lucky to see a Peter Tosh performance in Paris, during the 'Mama Africa' world tour. He was backed up by 'the Children Of The Ghetto' band.

Besides his prolific activities as a musician, producer, composer, humanitarian and his ‘Live Reggae Sunday’ performances, Fully toured with the Soul Syndicate (check the ‘Soul Syndicate reunion’ article in our Soul Syndicate discography).
He also toured with his own band ‘the Fully Fullwood band’ (from 2007 until now) to honor and pay tribute to Peter Tosh and Bob Marley’s Roots, Rock, Reggae: Rebel music!

Reggae fans will delighted to hear that the Tosh Meets Marley Tour is coming to Ireland in January.
The tour is set to visit the Black Box, Belfast (18); Tripod, Dublin (19); and The Savoy, Cork (20).Although Peter and Bob are sadly no longer with us, the all-star eight-piece line-up features Tosh bassist Fully Fullwood and Wailers guitarist Junior Marvin.

I have been very happy to go and see one of the Fully Fullwood band’s performance, here in France on March 15, 2009 in Ris Orangis. I was lucky to meet Tony Chin and Fully there, before and after their show ! Moreover, the first part of this show had been performed by Clinton Fearon himself ! Wow... such a GREAT show !!!
Final act of the Peter Tosh tribute day in Ris Orangis. After Clinton Fearon's accoustic set, Fully Fullwood band jumped on stage to perform a 2 hours set of Wailers, and mostly Tosh, tunes. All versions were finely interpreted. There's an impressive drum jam at the end of "african"!, and an awesome jam session with Clinton Fearon on Fully’s song ‘we need more love’ !!

In 2012 another tour has been set. The band has changed a little:
"Tosh Meets Marley Starring Fully Fulllwood with special guest Nkulee Dube": The title of this touring band (completing its United States tour before heading to Europe) doesn't quite capture how historically great the group is. In addition to the late Lucky Dube's fast-rising daughter Nkulee Dube on vocals, the band features a who's who of Jamaican reggae backing bandmembers, with leader-bassist Fully Fullwood and others from the original Soul Syndicate, a guitarist from Black Uhuru, and others who have played with all the Jamaican stars. The groove is deeper than deep, and the songs are the anthems of reggae.
When she made her Ashkenaz debut a year ago, Nkulee Dube brought her South African band. This time she sings with the Tosh Meets Marley band. The most exciting new artist in the reggae realm, the late great Lucky Dube's daughter Nkulee Dube carries on the family legacy. The 25-year-old singer-songwriter has created a new style all her own, fusing ethno-soul, jazz with ethno-ragga. She sang with her father's band at major festivals around the world before beginning her own career.

When the Peter Tosh Museum officially opens its doors on October 19th, 2016, Jamaicans and visitors from around the world will be able to see a large collection of never-before-seen Tosh memorabilia, as some of the treasures will be displayed to the public for the first time.

But we cannot mention Fully’s work only !!! there is someone who is a VIP by his side, there in San Clemente: his wife, Frances Klocke Fullwood is a great songwriter, poet, singer, assistant and producer too. Back in 2011, the German Reggae band ‘Martin Zobel & Soulrise Band’ recorded a GREAT album at Fully’s Kitchen: ‘The Land Of The Free’.

Another album by Martin Zobel & Soulrise has been recorded there in 2013/2014. Unfortunately, during the writing of this upcoming album, “Keep Planting Seeds“, pretty unexpectedly, their beloved bassie, friend and brother Dublex passed away and the entire project was about to fail... But then Fully filled in for Lex, so he was not only the producer of the new album, but also played the bass on it.
And so “Keep Planting Seeds” became what it is… a GREAT Reggae album !!! ..for the band, it is the most special record so far, also because they see it as a tribute to Dublex. Many songs are written for him and about him, and they even brought his bass guitar to California so Fully could play it on the album. RIP Dublex.
