"Oh Peter (40)" - Song lyrics (translator):

Ia - Dem killin’ de’Dread
tryin’ fe thief whey Papa’s Land from We - woo
tryin’ fe thief whey Papa’s Land from We ..!
Went out - to rock
to de’Mystic Reggae Beat
only to hear
dem kill de’MAN
within Mi Head
lay HIM flat
bullets to HIM  Head
in the hail of bullets
Peter McIntosh
is dead
OH  BUM~BOO ... KLAAT --
one bullet
to SILENCE a Generation’s Outcry
givin’ de’Yout
a little toy gun
who yuh expect ‘Im
fe shoot doung - doung - doung ..?
Equal rights an’ justice … woo
killin’ de’Dread
tryin’ fe thief whey Papa’s Land from We ..!

De’Killsome City
HIM warn ‘bout
now have HIM victim
oh “what a shit~stem”
the governing systems should be blamed
for this intentional KILLING
from u. s. america, london, japan an’ russia
to Mi born lan’ Jam-Doung
a shit~stem doesn’t take
to see it’s face - wha’ in
exposed within the mirror
the telescope of Black subjugation
its freedom of speech - THEN
is brought to the justice of -- i-quality

this - by the POWER that    uno ole’ ... vampires
Reggae’s Voice vibrates - and so
those with the agenda    uno ole’, uno ole’ ... vampires
controlling the FORTE to oppress
bringing a backbiting trigger-finger
it is they ... whom to be blamed
for this COVERT assassination
silencing a surging Generation to
the bewildering shock of - what ... de’fuck --
if they will KILL a Man like HIM    Peter
what then will they do    de’Mystic Bush Doctor
to a simpleton - liken to I    McIntosh
check it: through the ONE bullet
complacency then quivers a Generation’s Vigour
BACK - to present state where depression quivers
the eye-matter betwixt the winks of subjugation
saka dat who ... who yuh expect Youtiee
fe shoot doung - doung - doung ..?
Dem kill in’ de’Dreads
tryin’ fe thief whey … Mama’s Customs
from We ..!

Que~ya’ ... all over de’wo rld
rumors a spread
another prophet is ‘dead’
like a tub
sits upon its own bottom - but
carries the Water-Of-Life
for Us to sip from
so HIS  Messages - de’message of dis
Jam-Donian Warrior
taught Us to -- “don’t blame deh Yout’s”
but wid nuttin’ fe lose an’ everyt’ing to gain
“stand up for your rights”
while Yu’a
“watch out fe maga dogs”
and wid blood inna Wi Eyes
“feel no way”
when Yuh
“hammer, hammer, hammer”
tasting sweet victory
Yu’a hammer, HAMMER the “vampire”
“for apartheid, isn’t right”

and for Our equal rights
“We must fight”
for as observed and duly documented
out of many - it’s only “the poor man feels it”
and if We should unite
unconditionally, “like stepping razor
We are dangerous - dangerous”
fightin’ for Self-reliance upon birthright
“Mama Afrika - Mama Afrika - Mama Afrika”
oh, dis Black Land
Akkompong - Akkompong - Akkompong
in the hail of bullets
Peter ..!    All over de’world ...  rumors a spread
another prophet is ‘dead’.
Trying to thief whey … Papa’s Custom
from We ..!

A’hoo Ia ... in the hail of bullets
the d. j. says, “Peter Tosh -- is dead.”
de’Mystic Man
HE lived and was sacrificed
for the Black Plight
and in HIS passing - trodding to Utopia
HIS  Musical Messages
live - on
de’Mystic Bush Doctor
cries on ... in OUR  Liberation Dreams
to sooth Our Reggae Myths - AND
remembers the Revolution MUST still - go on
suh ketch it
before You or someone BREAKS  Your glass-house
You or someone - breaks
Your WILL to forge on
liken to Marcus, Kwame, Patrice - and Fela an’ Steve
de’MAN within Mi Head
IS -- “DREAD  AN’  ALIVE”.

As - throughout the four corners of the world
a Liberationist knows
HIS beaconing Voice for ‘rights’ an’ justice!
by which HE  Lived
to the sacrifice - choo~man Mi a’ tell yuh
Peter De’Mystic Bush Doctor McIntosh
a Social Revolutionist
Voice cannot be silenced
a priceless Black Pearl
of Jamaica
a BUST - Voice of reasoning
willed forever a-head of the Revolution
from Bookman to Jimmy
de’Bongo Man IS  YOU
from Nanny to Willie
de’Obeah revealed
Shaka manifested by YOU …
OH  BUM~BOO  KLAAT  Pe’ta - YUH
de’Vision of - de’Akkompongites
and the breast plate
fe’de now-a-days Warriors - de’Natty Dreads ..!
to raass~klaat Man
one bullet
willed NEVER to SILENCE
a Generation’s Outcry
will NEVER silence de’I nor I..! --
de’Mystic Bush Doctor
cries on ... in OUR  Liberation Dreams
to sooth Our Reggae Myths - AND
remembers the Revolution MUST still - go on
suh ketch it
before Your lack of involvement causes Yuh
to dance Quadrille no more
Your lack of involvement causes Youtiee
to be influenced by
santa’s outstretched - glove-masked hands.
Dem killin’ de’Dread
tryin’ fe thief whey … Papa’s Land
from We ..!

Ia … bam - get~flat
from the sun rise of September 11th 1987
along wid Idrens Free-I and Doc Brown
another Black Jam-Donian Warrior
to be risen in martyrdom
HIS mystical legacies
forge a new Generation
to the front lines of defiance
can’t silence - will NEVER to kill I
Wi - shall NOT be conquered
thus - will NEVER be
enslaved - traitors to de’cause
de’cause of Black
Self-government and sustainability!
for knowing de’enemy
Wi now awaken to
the realities of, “ ...what yuh friends will do”
suh - wid blood inna Wi Eye
yuh FUCK when Wi com’ ask - why
for why
was de’Warrior crucified
it’s a modern lynching
down in the far~r~r ... deep south
a’ Third World - West Indies style lynching
in the hail of bullets
Peter McIntosh - IS ..!
Dem kill in’ de’Dread
tryin’ fe thief whey … Mama’s Customs
from We ..!

Oh Peter --
son of Garvey and de’Akkompong’s Pickney
Your “warrioring” Voice
can be heard a-near and afar
Liberation is a cause
an’ for why - why were You crucified

the Voice shouting for freedom.
Equal rights an’ justice ..!

Peter McIntosh - IS - IS

---- Peter Tosh sang the “Ghetto’s” national anthem - “Uno ole bumbo~klaat”, and I can’t help imagining this to be His last chant on the 11th of September 1987, when he, along with his Idrens Free - I (“slave” name Jeffrey Dixon) and Doc. Brown were brutally shot to death.  It is known that the man with the trigger finger was wearing a pair of shoes given to him by Peter Tosh two days before.  Did Peter foresee this as He chanted - “That’s what they will do”?
