G Cole releases a brand new Single & Video "Old Days"

The Song
Every songwriters dream is not only to pen a hit song, but also to pen a hit song for an artist that you are truly a fan of, and that was the journey I embarked upon when I started writing the song “Old Days”. I got the track from Grammy nominated Producer Jason J-Vibe Farmer, amongst a bunch of tracks he had sent to me. This track spoke to me the moment I heard it, it had a throwback vibe, and a sound that paid homage, it didn’t sound like an old riddim, just like our predecessors inspired it. While some songs take hours, days, or even months sometimes, this one was written in about 15 minutes, I recorded the demo, and said to myself “How do I get this to Beres Hammond”

As my album “Ocho Rios” was nearing completion, I pulled up my demo, and thought, even if I submitted this to Father Beres, I’d be doing it with an unwilling heart, because I loved the song so much. So I told J-Vibe, I was keeping it, he was cool with it, and I knew the next step was to link J-Will, my band mate, and business partner, with whom I share vocal duties in the band “Wraps and Kush”. He was on vacation in Jamaica, so I waited with anticipation till he returned, and when we went into the studio and he dropped the verse, it was pure energy, and it was sealed. I knew this was going to be the next single.

The Video
The song itself is very literal, so I didn’t need any plots and much storyline, my key points were, “lets take it back to the days when dance used to nice”. I started down memory lane, asking myself, what was present in those sessions I used to go to, back at James Avenue Ocho Rios, Oracabessa St Mary, Parry Town, The Ruins Ocho Rios etc? A sound system which we had to drive 2 hours to get, a bar, the jerk chicken man, the soup man, the peanut man, a bunch of beautiful ladies, and the rude boys. I then asked my mentor, a true veteran and legend; Richie Bassie Daley of the legendary reggae band “Third World” to come through, and we were ready.

J, and I set out to direct a video, that says nostalgia, we wrote the treatment, and then sought out the man with one of the best eyes in the business to shoot, and edit the video; John Dingo aka Gwaalaz. We then took to radio, and invited our friends, fans, and supporters out to a great night of dancehall, and made the cameras roll. The music was great, the food was delicious, and the people were energetic, so we recreated a night of real Jamaican dancehall fun, right here in South Florida, and the rest as they say is on film. Much thanks to all that turned out to support, much thanks to Mars Auto for hosting us, and to Dj Magic Mel, for all the help.

The video is here, and I hope you love it as much as we do.
