ASFA launches debut EP "Take A Look"
Asfa fresh off his number one single Not The Life which spent two weeks at the top of the Jamaican Top 25 Reggae Charts has just seen the release of his debut EP Take A Look.
The EP is on his own Jecoliah Entertainment Production label and is distributed by VP Records subsidiary VPAL. It is a solid all around effort and harkens back to the traditional and classic sounds of reggae at its finest. The artist displays his full range with a sound reminiscent of singers like Beres Hammond and Garnett Silk and exhibits strong and conscious leaning lyrical content on it.
The five track offering along with his number one single also contains the soul searching 'Take A Look', the enjoyable 'Bacchanal', a musical tribute to his late mother 'Mother I' and his latest single the instructional 'Vanity'.
Asfa in 2012 emerged as one of the new talents to keep an eye on and made an impression with two quality videos and glowing reviews from the entertainment press for his first hit.
Asfa is being managed by former manager of Natural Black Roger Grant who promises that 2013 will be his break out year. "The campaign for recognition will intensify this year", said Grant and "appearances for the major shows like Sumfest and Rebel Salute are being looked into".
Production on the EP was handled by Robert Sutherland, Allah, Roger Grant and Patrick Dunn.
The artist also would like to express gratitude to drummer Wilkie for playing on most of the tracks.
