From his base in Brooklyn, New York City, music producer Omar ‘Bobo Omar’ Phillips keeps in touch with the daily runnings in Jamaica. A lot of the news he hears from his homeland, is not pleasant.

The troubling crime situation in  the Caribbean country inspired him to produce the Train Line rhythm which is the basis for Out Of Control, the 13-song CD you are currently listening to. The Train Line is driven by established acts like Busy Signal, as well as a number of emerging artistes including Ancient Warrior, Don G, Firenie and Khausion.

Busy Signal, in tandem with Mr. Diamond, contributes “Won’t Stop Now’. But most of the tracks on this compilation are by acts on the cusp of making it to the top. Some, like who does the song “We Need A Change” and Ancient Warrior (“When It Gonna Stop”), are from Bobo Omar’s hometown of Linstead, St. Catherine.

The Train Line was recorded in 2013 at the legendary Tuff Gong studio in Kingston, Jamaica’s capital. A stellar lineup of musicians worked on it, including keyboardist Paul Crossdale and bass guitarist Donald Dennis of The Firehouse Crew; drummer Kirk Bennett, and guitarist Ronoy Gordon.
It took Bobo Omar five years to select the artistes, and songs, he thought would do justice to the Train Line. With crime still out of control in Jamaica, he said, “Now is the right time” for these songs.

Linstead is a sleepy, rural market town that has produced a number of outstanding reggae performers, the most famous being singers Freddie McKay, Phyllis Dillon, Culture, Tony Curtis, Jigsy King and Iba Mahr.

Bobo Omar said it was only fitting to sign some artistes from the area to his OneTree Records company and give them an opportunity to shine.
“There’s a lot of talent in Jamaica that need to be discovered. But coming from Bobo House, is not anybody we going to work with…The thing have to have a certain standard.”

He discovered these artistes with the assistance of his brother, Carlton 'I Jah Bling' Granston who has his finger on the musical pulse in Jamaica.
