Cookie The Herbalist's new song "I WISH"
Cookie The Herbalist's new song "I WISH"
On this years visit to Jamaica, Switzerland's top Singjay Cookie The Herbalist spent some time in Kingston at Inspired Production Studio.
There, some new, hot and blazing songs where created by Cookie and Anil "Black Phantom" Montaque; who built the riddims to the songs; and with his experience, contributed to some great new tunes.
One of them "I WISH" is a very international sounding, modern roots song with some deep lyrics in it, describing the social wrongs in Jamaica and also in the world, and how the people that have the power misuses and abuses that power.
A song that wants to build bridges between rich and poor, between uptown and downtown, and wants to remind that in the end, we are all the same. No matter where we come from or how heavy our wallet might be or not. Whit it's very catchy, melodic and sweet sung hook line "…I wish there was a day, i pray, when love will lead the way…" plus the angel like sounding harmonies of Stephanie Wallace, this tune has definitely the potential to be a HIT!
A couple days after recording the track, Cookie and Phantom decided to even shoot a video clip for it.
So it came, that Christopher Alexander Brown (Cab Concepts), one of Jamaica's best upcoming video directors (who also shot videos for Jessie James and even Vybz Kartel already) stepped on scene. On a nice, sunny Kingston day, a visually great video clip was shot in downtown and uptown Kingston. Reflecting the content of the song lyrics perfectly and showing some great shots from the urban and social diversities in Jamaica's capital city.
